Genuine 42-inch deck drive belt for select riding mowers
Replace a worn deck belt with a genuine Troy-Bilt/MTD part that carries power from the engine pulley to the cutting deck. You receive one new belt in its original retail package. Check your mower's model number and required belt part number before ordering.
Part numbers and belt details
- Genuine Troy-Bilt/MTD replacement belt, with 954-04060B on the attached label.
- Package part-number families: 954-04060 and 754-04060, including the suffixes indicated on the package.
- Application: 42-inch mower deck. The 42-inch measurement describes the deck, not the belt's length.
- Package states it fits 42-inch lawn tractors from 2005 and later; confirm the exact part against your mower's manual.
- V-type deck belt; 96.5-inch length.

Fitment and installation
This belt routes from the deck pulleys to the engine pulley. Use the operator's manual and your mower's model number to confirm compatibility and the installation procedure. Deck size alone does not establish fit.
Before removing the belt, stop the engine and take out the ignition key. Disconnect the spark-plug wire(s) and ground them against the engine to prevent accidental starting. Follow your mower's safety and service instructions. Use a factory-approved belt specified for your mower: an unsuitable replacement may not disengage completely. Replace belts that show signs of wear.
