Drug Facts and ingredient details

Active ingredients in each lozenge: Zincum aceticum 2X, Zincum gluconicum 2X, and Sambucus nigra 4X (elderberry). The X values describe homeopathic dilutions, not milligrams of zinc or elderberry.

The manufacturer markets these lozenges to shorten the common cold when used at the first sign and help relieve nasal congestion and other cold symptoms. These homeopathic claims are based on traditional practice, not accepted medical evidence. This product is not formulated for flu or allergies.

Inactive ingredients: Citric acid, corn syrup, FD&C Blue No. 1, FD&C Red No. 40, flavor, glycerin, malic acid, purified water, soy lecithin, sucralose, and sucrose. Contains soy-derived lecithin, added colors, and sugars.

How to use

• Adults and children 12 years and older: dissolve one lozenge completely in the mouth at the onset of symptoms. Do not chew it or swallow it whole.
• Repeat every 2–3 hours while symptoms remain. Do not exceed seven lozenges in 24 hours.
• Do not take on an empty stomach.
• Do not eat or drink for 15 minutes after use. Avoid citrus fruit or juice for 30 minutes before and after use. Otherwise, drink plenty of fluids.
• For children under 12, ask a doctor before use.

Get prompt medical advice for a severe sore throat, a sore throat lasting more than two days, or a sore throat accompanied or followed by fever, headache, rash, nausea, or vomiting. Stop use and ask a doctor if symptoms, including cough, persist or recur; fever, rash, or a persistent headache accompanies them; or new symptoms occur. A cough lasting more than one week may indicate a serious condition.

Keep out of reach of children. For an overdose, get medical help or contact Poison Control immediately. Do not use if the sealed inner pouch is damaged or torn. Store at 15–29°C (59–84°F); avoid freezing and excessive heat.
