Nix Lice Killing Creme Rinse uses permethrin 1% to kill head lice and their eggs and help prevent reinfestation for up to 14 days when used as directed. The kit includes one 2 fl oz (59 mL) bottle and a fine-tooth nit-removal comb for working through the hair after treatment. Suitable for adults and children ages 2 months and older when used as directed.

Directions

Read the complete carton and enclosed consumer insert before use.

For adults and children ages 2 months and older. Check household members for lice and nits in bright light, especially behind the ears and at the back of the neck. Treat when lice or nits are found.

1. Wash hair with shampoo that does not contain conditioner. Do not use conditioner. Rinse and towel-dry until damp, not wet.
2. Shake the Nix bottle well. Saturate the scalp and hair completely, starting behind the ears and at the back of the neck. Keep eyes protected with a towel or washcloth.
3. Leave on for 10 minutes, no longer. Rinse with warm water. Towel-dry and remove tangles.
4. While hair remains slightly damp, use the included fine-tooth comb to remove lice and nits in small sections from scalp to ends. Clean the comb as you work, seal removed nits in a disposable bag, and recheck the entire head.
5. Check daily for missed nits. If live lice are present 7 or more days after the first treatment, give a second treatment.

Warnings

For external use only. Do not use on children under 2 months, near eyes, inside the nose, ears, mouth, or vagina, or on eyebrows or eyelashes; see a doctor for lice in those areas. Ask a doctor before use if allergic to ragweed because breathing difficulty or an asthma episode may occur. Keep eyes tightly closed and protected. If product gets in the eyes, flush immediately with plenty of water. Scalp itching or redness may occur. Stop use and see a doctor for breathing difficulty, eye irritation, persistent skin or scalp irritation, or infection. If pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a health professional before use. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 immediately.

Inactive ingredients

Canada balsam, cetyl alcohol, citric acid, FD&C yellow no. 6, hydrolyzed animal protein, hydroxyethylcellulose, isopropyl alcohol, methylparaben, polyoxyethylene 10 cetyl ether, propylene glycol, propylparaben, stearalkonium chloride, water.
